The Casanova is in San Quirico d' Orcia a mediaeval town which in the past was a stopping off place for Popes and their legates travelling towards Rome along the ancient Via Francigena, which still today passes through the town’s centre.
The location of the Casanova means that those who come for a holiday in this corner of Tuscany are in the ideal place to explore old villages, monasteries, castles and convents, all of which testify to the area’s long history of civilisation ranging from the Etruscans through to the Renaissance.
From the Hotel you can leave for a short trip and visit some of the most important places in this area full of history and art, for example Siena (40 Km); Pienza (8 Km); Montepulciano ( 20 Km) and Montalcino (15Km) both famous for their wine: Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano; Chiusi ( 25Km) the most important Etruscan village; Chianciano Terme (25 Km) important spa resort ;Monteriggioni, San Giminiano and Colle Val d’ Elsa and Firenze are only 110 Km away.

Holidays here can be spent in total tranquillity, immersed in the countryside far from the high speed and traffic of the city and in the meantime is possible to visit with a short trip place like Cortona so renowned, the Trasimeno Lake or to go to Perugia (90 km).

The Casanova is situated about 4 Km from Bagno Vignoni, the old and famous spa village nearest the village of San Quirico d’Orcia.

Going inland there are other best itineraries: Monte Amiata is 1800 metres high and can be reached by crossing typical medieval towns and even more ancient on the way, on Monte Amiata there is the Fauna Park of Monte Labbro. There are also the possibility to visit the Natural Parks in Maremma, you must not miss the Parco dell’ Uccellina that is on the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the WWF oases on the Argentario Mount and Orbetello.

From Argentario to Punta Ala the Etruscan coast is scattered with marine cities and seaside resorts that are unique in the entire world: Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole, Talamone, Castiglione della Pescaia. The beautiful islands, Elba, Giannutri e Giglio can be reached by hopping on a ferryboat at Piombino.
